TORAH ACADEMY SHABBATON 2006

On the 10 of May we all woke up to start the best Shabbaton ever. We got to school, davened, packet the bus and said good bye to our mommys. Then we got on the bus. We all sat for 8 hours, half way playing soccer with the Caltex workers in the middle of nowhere. After a wrong turn that cost us about an hour we quickly unpacked the bus and had just enough time to daven mincha, eat, daven maariv and play nab a matric, the game worked like this, the boys would have to catch the matric’s and the rest of the staff, such as J.P, Dr Roussow and Rabbi Schurder, and our legendary Dovid and Lazer.

At 7:30 the next morning we got up, got dressed, davened and then got ready to tackle the dragon peak mountains. It was a mountain that had amazing sight seeing and natural beauty, with freezing cold mountain pools a few boys fought the cold and tried to swim, after turning blue we walked to the falls and drove home.

When we got back we played escape from Russia, we all learned a new song that goes like this,
I’m a little piggie here’s my snout
Oink oink oink
Oink oink oink

The next day was erev shabbos, the boys went horse riding, with some wild crazy horses, the boys held on and had a great time, trotting through the mountains, we came back and got ready for shabbos, while out of the blue came three air force choppers landed on the airforce base that we were staying at, we went into shabbos with the best attitude ever and had the best Friday night of our shabbaton lives.

The next morning, Rabbi Hazdan woke us up with our favorite song, which didn’t sound so lovely at that time of the morning, we got up and got ready for learning and davening, towards the end of shabbos, we gathered by the stream in a semi circle and sang niggunim as shabbos ended.

On motzei shabbos we had a night full of extreme entertainment, such as skits, fear factor and a bonfire gathering, well done to Alon, Gidi, Boruch and Bezzy for enduring the most disgusting, and disturbing stunts ever on shabbaton. Unfortunately we had to wake up early the next morning and our shabbaton came to an end.

Thanks to:
Rabbi Hazdan
J.P.LeRoux
Dr Roussow
Dovid n’ Lazer
Rabbi Schurder

And most of all our drunk bus driver
